Frequently asked questions about Axminster Chiropractic Clinic

Helpful Information

Your Chiropractic Questions Answered

If you're considering chiropractic care in Axminster, it's natural to have questions. Below, we've answered some of the most common queries about appointments, treatments, fees and visiting our clinic. We want you to feel informed and comfortable before booking.

Starting Chiropractic Care

What to know before your first appointment.

What happens at my first chiropractic appointment?

Your first visit to Axminster Chiropractic Clinic begins with a discussion about your symptoms, medical history and any concerns you may have.

Your chiropractor will then carry out an appropriate physical assessment, explain their findings and discuss suitable options for your care. Treatment may be provided during your first appointment if it is clinically appropriate and you are happy to proceed.

Do I need a GP referral to see a chiropractor?

No. You can book directly with Axminster Chiropractic Clinic without a referral from your GP.

If your chiropractor identifies symptoms requiring further medical investigation, they may advise you to contact your GP or another appropriate healthcare professional.

What should I wear to my appointment?

Comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely is usually best. Sportswear or loose-fitting everyday clothing is suitable for most appointments.

Depending on the area being assessed, your chiropractor may ask you to adjust or remove an item of clothing. Your comfort and privacy will always be respected.

Can I see a chiropractor if I've never been before?

Absolutely. We regularly welcome people who are completely new to chiropractic care. Your chiropractor will explain the assessment, any recommended treatment and what to expect before proceeding.

You'll also have the opportunity to ask questions or discuss any concerns throughout your appointment.

Chiropractic Treatment & Conditions

Understanding the care available at our clinic.

What conditions can a chiropractor help with?

Chiropractors assess and manage a range of musculoskeletal problems involving muscles, joints and the spine.

At Axminster Chiropractic Clinic, patients commonly seek advice for back pain, neck pain, joint stiffness and certain types of musculoskeletal discomfort. Your chiropractor will assess whether chiropractic care is appropriate for your particular symptoms.

Is chiropractic treatment painful?

Chiropractic treatment is not generally intended to be painful, although some techniques may cause temporary discomfort. It's also possible to experience mild soreness or stiffness following treatment.

Your chiropractor will explain the techniques they recommend and adapt treatment to your symptoms, preferences and clinical needs.

How many chiropractic appointments will I need?

This varies depending on your symptoms, medical history, examination findings and how you respond to treatment.

Following your assessment, your chiropractor will discuss a suitable management plan, including whether further appointments are recommended. There is no fixed number of sessions that everyone needs.

Are chiropractic treatments suitable for everyone?

Not every treatment is suitable for every person. Your chiropractor will review your medical history, current symptoms and any relevant health conditions before recommending care.

Where chiropractic treatment is unsuitable or further investigation is needed, your chiropractor will explain the appropriate next steps. Your safety and informed consent are central to every appointment.

Do you offer sports massage as well as chiropractic?

Yes. Axminster Chiropractic Clinic offers sports massage therapy alongside chiropractic care.

Massage may be suitable for people experiencing muscular tension or discomfort, including those involved in sport and physically demanding activities. You do not have to be an athlete to enquire about sports massage.
